Fine Cooking with Finex

January 22, 2018

Something about this cold, blustery weather just makes us want to hunker down and cook up some homey meals with our friends and family. We are absolutely thrilled to be offering locally founded company Finex Cast Iron pans and cookware. If you aren't familiar with this line of products, you should come see for yourself; there are wonderful little details which make these pans unique and something you will have in your kitchen forever.  They also would make a really special wedding gift for any couple starting their lives together.

Cast in Detroit, Michigan and finished by a multi-step tumbling and seasoning process here in Portland, OR, each pan is touched by 12 hands to ensure its durability and quality.  Each pan is individually tumbled with birdseed that is combined with flax seed oil. The result: perfectly seasoned pans and high quality birdseed that is then used by local chicken farmers producing some of the best eggs.  The beautiful handle wraps are attached after this seasoning process, and their design is both aesthetic as well as truly functional, resulting in a safe and comfortable grip.

For some more info on how founder Mike Whitehead brought this company into being, check out this short, informative video:

We are currently carrying a variety of sizes and styles of skillets and grill pans, which should be more than enough to get you started on your cast iron odyssey.

And if you need some motivation about what to cook in your new pans, we have you covered with an impressive array of cookbooks covering all manners of cuisine. One to note in particular is "Will it Skillet" showing you many different unconventional skillet recipes, such as cakes, breads and other delicacies.

We also try to always have beautiful table linens and dish towels in stock for your kitchen and entertaining needs, because what's a beautiful meal without a beautiful table?

And don't forget those old-world touches which add a certain something to your table: cake stands, cheese boards, special French cutlery and much more to bring everything into beautiful focus: you can find it all here, and we would love to help!

Happy cooking this winter (and save us a bite, will ya?)
